The Daily Caller quotes an email from the University of Washington to its alumni, in which the university highlights the research of the esteemed Professor Christopher Parker, who has discovered that aside from the whole lynching thing, the Tea Party is indeed a lot like the Ku Klux Klan.
Can we not say that the Tea Party is heavily involved in politics?…Further, can we not also say that many Tea Partiers are not educated and accomplished? Finally, can we not also say that the Tea Party has an intolerant element? The answer to all three is yes. So, to answer your question, I recognize why some on the right are alarmed at the comparison, but they need to bear in mind that the comparison is VERY specific to the Klan of the 1920s[.]
That is what passes for critical thinking at the University of Washington. In order to be comparable to the Klan, an organization only has to be politically active, have some members who aren’t “educated and accomplished” and have some members who are “intolerant.” In what way is this any different from the NAACP?
Is this how easy it is to receive a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago? Apparently one can obtain an advanced degree these days using Chris Matthews as a primary source.
Daily Caller link via Instapundit, who calls this “Higher education hate speech.” I doubt UW will conduct an investigation into this.
