How to Improve a Cultural Studies Program

Authorities are calling this a low-level felony, but I call it innovation.

Julius Nyang’oro, the former chair and former professor of African studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was indicted Monday on a felony charge of accepting $12,000 for a course he did not teach, The News & Observer reported.

The athletes who signed up for this nonexistent course received a far better education than they would have if this professor had actually taught them anything. Everyone in the Cultural Studies racket could learn from what Nyang’oro did. If more Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies and Whatever Else Studies professors simply took a bribe and didn’t show up, everyone would get a nice break and no one would have to read Foucault. It’s a win-win situation.
