This Rather Interesting Week, Land of the Dead Edition

sidewalk-artThis week’s roundup is brought to you by the 2013 Canoga Park Dia de los Muertos Festival. Sure, L.A. has a fancier one, but it costs $15 to get in and you can’t bring food. The one out here has food vendors, a car show, Mexican bikers, a guy with a mohawk on stilts, and sometimes Danny Trejo. And it’s free, so all the hipsters hanging around Hollywood Forever Cemetery can eat it. Here’s a listing of Dia de los Muertos events around the world from Mexican Sugar Skull.

This Week in ObamaCare

We’ll start with two related ideas here, that touch on something I’ve mentioned here a few times. Aewl at Aewl’s Abode has a post entitled Let It Burn, Let It Burn that lays out a way to collapse ObamaCare from the inside. Read the whole post, but the summary is that if enough people with existing conditions signed up on one end while healthy people chose to pay the ObamaTax instead of getting insurance on the other end, the system would necessarily crash.

Meanwhile, Warden at Ace of Spades HQ points out that the photo op of Tennessee state senator Brian Kelsey handing the book Websites for Dummies to Kathleen Sebelius at an ObamaCare event was a perfect Alinsky moment for the Right.

We need to start thinking like this on the Right. Cloward-Piven and Alinsky tactics are tools that don’t belong to one side of the ideological divide. By the way, Blackmailers Don’t Shoot is the Featured Blog of the Month over at Aewl’s place, so go check the place out.

Meanwhile, more people are losing their catastrophic health coverage due to ObamaCare’s regulations and have to buy pricier policy’s that they don’t need in order to subsidize those who are already sick. New York Times spin: Obama misspoke. Alleged comedian Bill Maher has another explanation: Obama had to lie because Americans are too stupid to understand the truth.

 The Ongoing War

Robert Stacy McCain has a post on slimy Politico hack Todd Purdum, who blames the failures of ObamaCare on a sinister Republican conspiracy. Also racism, of course.

A Colorado school sent home an assignment asking for political information on students and their parents. The Political Hat has more details, including samples from the assignment.

What did happen to beating the crap out of some people and running them out of town on a rail? This post from That Mr. G Guy’s Blog isn’t exactly a political post, but it fits into an overall theme.

Ohioans: Fire John Kasich. Follow the link to see why.

Regular Right Guy on the person who is actually running the Obama administration. Hint: It ain’t Harry Reid.

Agent 54 reports on the Vote Ron Burgundy campaign as it swings into Wisconsin.

tommy-gunsRule 5

Saturday’s DaleyBabes from The Daley Gator. Oh hell, here’s another one with Kannon Hokawa.

Another hot chick with a rifle from 90 Miles from Tyranny.

The Friday Night Babe from Proof Positive. This week it’s Alyssa Milano. Also, Vintage Babe of the Week Ramsay Ames.

Halloween chicks from Goodstuff’s Cyber World.

American Power posted one of his big Rule 5 Roundups tonight. My post from Thursday is up there, which is just one of many reasons to check it out.

Have a great week folks, and let me know if I left anything out.

I’ve been extremely AWOL (computer issues), so thus the lack of a wider selection (including a Rule 5 entry). Your local ‘Day of the Dead’ sounds intriguing. Write some more about it? Thanks again for the linkage!

My girlfriend and I have gone to it for the last three years. It’s a lot of fun, and it gives the area kind of a small town charm. It would make for a good non-political post, so thanks for the suggestion.
