As Tea Party and conservative activists testify to Congress about being targeted by the Internal Revenue Service, the Mail Online reports that the IRS spent at least $4.1 million on a 2010 conference in Anaheim, CA. The number is an estimate because the IRS cannot account for all of the money that it spent.
Expenses include $17,000 for a speaker who painted celebrities on stage, and $64,000 on promotional materials for attendees. Attendees also received free drink coupons and a $71 per diem. Employees living in the area were given hotel rooms, allowing them to collect the daily allowance.
