Not that you didn’t already know that.
The California Senate on Wednesday passed a bill that would revoke the Boy Scouts’ nonprofit status because the group does not allow openly gay adults to join.
I must be an extremely naive person, because I thought that this wouldn’t receive more than a handful of votes. I really thought that California’s government would want the mask of decency just badly enough that this thing would be laughed out of Congress. Well, now one of the legislative houses passed it.
It still has to pass the Assembly, and I don’t think that even Moonbeam is crazy enough to sign it, but I’m finding myself shocked on quite a regular basis when it comes to just how bad politicians in this state really are.
Here’s the most telling quote in the piece at the Washington Times: “They [the Boy Scouts] are out of line with the values of California and should be ineligible for a tax benefit paid for by all Californians. […] SB 323 brings our laws into line with our values.”
Scumbag Ricardo Lara is right. California’s values include government employee unions, welfare and illegal immigrants. I hope that the Boy Scouts leave the state, along with every other decent organization.
